Yeah, I'm gonna try and compose some music, but what would you guys recommend?

Yea, MadTracker's pretty good. I personally "found" a copy of FLStudio Pro online for the compo so I'll prolly make something with that. But I think Trackers are easier to use at first.
Love is such a fickle thing...

FL Studio. Absolutely. (Especially if you can get the cracked version, obviously).

I'm using Cubase Essentials. It has everything I've needed so far. (And a lot more)

MadTracker? It's free.

I second this! Madtracker all the way! I've been using this for like 3 years now..  I can make anything from 8bit style music to live orchestral style music using this thing. I love it, especially because its free!

I generally use LMMS.  Really recommend it if you're familiar with FLStudio, but don't want to buy or pirate it.  It's free, has a decent interface, and most VST's work well with it.

Whoa that's looks good Smoo. I'll have to try it out.

Oh, and I've got to mention LSDJ for making fairly authentic chiptune music. It actual works within the limitations of a gameboy sound hardware.
You can emulate it using VisualGameboy fairly well. It's only like a $2 donation for it.
